About
In the eighth episode of the popular USA Network series, Psych, Shawn and Gus venture over to the Santa Barbara Tri-Con in hopes of finding a missing teen.
Interim Cheif Vick and Detective Lassiter are out of town for a conference. Back at the station, Juliet is approached by a mother whose son has disappeared. Shawn and Gus are asked to investigate, so they head over to his house, where they find a stash of money and a flyer to the comic convention. Since they can't just walk in due to the tickets being sold out, Shawn manages to finagle their way in as George Takei's assistants. Inside, they run into movie execs who are planning on previewing a clip from the new Red Phantom film. Shawn and Gus know it'll bomb since a few internet buzz sites have already dismissed it as trash. The same had happened to a previous superhero film about the Green Spirit, and that character's popularity never recovered. It was revealed that the kid, Malone Breyfogle, was paid to give a good review of the film on his own internet buzz site, but he went back on his word. This, of course made the movie execs look guilty, which was changed when they themselves went missing.
On the way to the conference, Vick's water breaks all over Lassiter's briefcase. Back at the Tri-Con, Shawn has a little fun being George Takei's assistant and manages to even con George himself. Gus tells Shawn that the bad reviews on Malone's site appeared after he was reported missing. Everything comes together though when Shawn and Gus realize that the kidnappings are pretty close to a Green Spirit comic plot and Shawn pinpoints the comic's creator as the real villain behind all of this. He's still outraged at what became of the Green Spirit's character and popularity after the movie crapped out, so he decided to exact revenge on those who had a hand in the film's demise at the box office. Shawn and Gus are celebrated as heroes at the Con after the Green Spirit creator is hauled off to jail.
